Website updates

Hey everybody. The typical beginning of the week in these parts, everyone seems to be recovering from the long weekend (not sure how that works) myself included. I guess it's that extra day that just means you get to pack more in. I'm just suffering from mild sleep deprivation, which I fully blame on watching the olympics (as lame as that is). A note to NBC about the olympics: For the love of all that's holy, start your broadcasts at like 5 P.M. This whole start at 7 or 8 and go until well after midnight is just silly.

An interesting fact for you video snobs: The olympics are being broadcast in high definition, but did you know they're only being broadcast in 1080i? Most sports like football and basketball are broadcast in 720p and look a whole lot better. But 1080i is higher resolution so it much look better right? Well no...it's pretty complex and you can read a fascinating explanation here. Since high-def is going to be the way of the TV world in a few years, it's good to know what the heck is going on when it's time to buy that new TV.

Bored yet? Well you better not be because we have some exciting news for you. We're hopefully turning out some great new website features. We don't want to promise the moon and not be able to deliver, but we also don't want to keep you in the dark. One thing we think will be really great is adding the ability to post comments to our blog posts. With comments you can post things like "Josh, nobody cares about high definition programming and people who say 'hi-def' are losers." or "Misha-I hate cats too." The intent isn't to ween people off the forums either (which can be a great place to speak your mind), we just want to make it simpler for active SWLLC web users to say what they want to say in the right place in the easiest way possible.

And to avoid making this post a "complaint sandwich" I'd like to point you towards this article which talks about Chinese workers who blog on the job and how more than half of them just complain about things...I smell uprising! It's also worth noting the website is called "Chinastic," which isn't really a word by any stretch of the imagination. Ooooh burn!

Cheers
